A picture from my late fathers collection. He was a pilot on 60 Squadron at the time based at RAF Wildenrath. This was his second time on 60 Sqn having been on them years before flying Meteors and Javelins. After disbanding in Apr 1968 in Singapore on Javelins, 60 reformed at Wildenrath in West Germany taking over the role of the RAF Germany Communications Squadron. I am not sure if he was flying this aircraft at the time. WV736 was delivered to the RAF in Nov 1954 and SOC on 23 May 1977. Retired to Catterick fire school and perished in 1979.

It was also used as a front cover from the RAF publication 'Air Clues' and has the following caption. FAR EAST TRIO. Three 'RAF types' of the Far East Air Force are seen on a special formation flight along the Malaysian coast. They are a Javelin of No 64 Squadron, whose duties at Tengah have been taken over by the Mk 6 Lightnings of No 74 Sqn ; a Canberra of No 45 Sqn ; and a Hunter of No 20 Sqn.

64 Squadron taken at RAF Tengah in Singapore. Flown by my late father when taxing onto stand the starboard undercarriage collapsed. This is from a cutting from the RAF Air Clues magazine which my Dad added to his log book. ' After completing a normal landing in a Javelin the pilot shut down the port engine, set the starboard at 50% rpm and taxied to the dispersal area. As he turned the aircraft into dispersal, the starboard main undercarriage collapsed.' This is my Dad's comment on the back of this photo 'Taxing at 10kts one sunny day.........' To RAF 09Dec58 as an FAW7. SOC Tengah 01May1968.

A photo from my Dad's collection when he was flying Gloster Javelin's with 64 Squadron. Dated 11 Oct 1963 I am not sure if he was flying one of these aircraft. What we have is a refueling sortie probably over the North Sea. The tanker is a Vickers Valiant BK1 XD820 of 90 Squadron based at RAF Honington in Suffolk. Being refuelled are 3 Gloster Javelin FAW9's of 64 Squadron based at RAF Binbrook in Lincolnshire. They are XH709 / K, XH708 / P and an aircraft coded G.

My late father started his advanced flying training on 25 February 1953 with 203 AFS based at RAF Driffield in Yorkshire. He was on a solo flight, exercise 14 which was for aerobatics according to his flight log. He was assigned Meteor IV VT240 code O-25. On completing the sortie he was cleared to land. On landing before he had cleared the runway there was a big bang and he ended up on the grass. On running clear and looking back he saw he had been hit by Meteor T7 WL413 which took off his tail. WL413 was delivered on 24 Jul 1952. Repaired after accident. Last noted Farnborough 24 Feb 1966.

My late father started his advanced flying training on 25 February 1953 with 203 AFS based at RAF Driffield in Yorkshire. He had this mishap on 09 April 1953. He was on a solo flight, exercise 14 which was for aerobatics according to his flight log. He was assigned Meteor F4 VT240 code O-25. On landing he was hit from behind by Meteor WL413 which removed the tail of Dads' aircraft. My Dad ran like hell away from his aircraft and only on turning round realised what had happened. VT240 was struck off charge on this date. My Dads caption for the photo is "Mating season for Meteor's"
