First flown in December 1941 as D-AVIU, this Ju 52 was leased and then sold to Aero O/Y by Lufthansa. It was damaged in Malmö, Sweden on 6 July 1943. Apparently it went to Germany for repairs as Ju52archiv says it was impressed by the Luftwaffe and crashed in spurious 'Savoja, Finland' on 23 March 1944 with a German military crew. Repaired. To ABA in Sweden in 1945 as SE-BUE, delivered from Germany? Eventually VH-BUU. This is certainly not a 1950s photo as indicated by the source. Delivery of Aero O/Y's second Ju 52 - OH-ALK was already put in service during 1932. These aircraft operated on floats in summer until the opening of Malmi airport in 1938. In peacetime after the Winter War on 14 June 1940, operating Aero O/Y flight 1631 from Tallinn, Kaleva was shot down by two Soviet DB-3 bombers during Soviet preparations to occupy Latvia. All nine people on board, including diplomatic couriers, were killed. This is said to have been the first commercial airliner shootdown by fighter aircraft in history. Start-up procedure

Formerly Finnish AF DO-8 before transfer to Finnish Airlines and has been used for parts to keep DC-3 OH-LCH flying. Displayed outside the museum building along with a C.172 and MiG-21.

6 am, after traveling over the night from aviation museum to temporary display location in new residential area. After months of aircraft polishing done by volunteers in aviation museum, looking like a new, just waiting to get wings back.

After years of kept around airfield waiting what next, towed to Aviation Museum for cleaning.
