I don't take shots of planes preserved indoors (although I do admit that often it is very neccessary) so to have so many interesting subjects outside made for a memorable visit. Hermeskeil is a fabulous museum and well worth a visit for any aviation fan.

On 10 June 1989 this aircraft was lost after the starboard undercarriage leg couldn't be lowered at Prestwick Air Show. As landing in that configuration was deemed too dangerous, the pilot baled out at 6,000ft and was rescued by a Sea King helicopter. The Sea Fury crashed into the Firth of Clyde off Turnberry, Ayrshire.
