A beautiful replica

First appearing entering combat in May 1918, the Fokker D. VII quickly showed its superior performance over Allied fighters. With its high rate of climb, higher ceiling and excellent handling characteristics, German pilots scored a remarkable 565 victories over Allied aircraft during the month of August alone. The reproduction aircraft on display at the National Museum of the USAF is painted to represent the Fokker D. VII of Lt. Rudolph Stark, a squadron leader of Jasta 35b in Oct. 1918.

This D.VII replica (with some original parts) is on display at the National Naval Aviation Museum in recognition of its service in the Navy (and Army) after the Armistice.

The German WW2 "Lozenge" camouflage scheme shows up well from this angle.

The Fokker D.VII was the outstanding fighter aircraft of WWI, unique in tat it had a metal tube fuselage rather than the all wood prevelant at the time. This example is probably ex OO-AMY, later OO-UPP abandoned at Ostend in 1918. It was brought to the UK in 1938 as part of the Nash Collection. Purchased by the Ministry of Defence in 1992 and allocated RAF maintenance serial 8207M, it was donated to the Museum in 2004. A magnificent exhibit, one of six remaining aircraft of the type

This original aircraft was built as D-20 for the Dutch AF but is displayed as '4408/18' painted in the Luftwaffe's "Lozenge" colour scheme.

Mikael Carlson's display was the highlight of the Stauning airshow. To take off, he had his Fokker turned into the wind right at his parking position at the crowdline, opened the throttle and was airborne from the grass seconds later to clear the obstacle of the runway. Tony Fokker would have been delighted!

This gem of an aircraft is a part of the Musee de l'Air at le Bourget. This was considered to be the best German fighter aircraft of WW I and over 1000 were built

The best German fighter of the Great War, the D.VII served with many countries after WWI, including the Netherlands, where Anthony Fokker returned, and the USA. This aircraft, German army serial D.436/18, went to the USA but was in civilian hands as N3764, starred in Howard Hughes' air war movie Hell's Angels. From 1954 it was N4729V. Now preserved in early Dutch 'orange meatball' markings.

Built by Rousseau in 1967 as F-BNDF. Registered in Ireland for filming work at Baldonnel wearing WW1 Luftwaffe markings '796/18' .

Powered by an original BMW IIIa engine, this beautiful Fokker D.VIIF replica is painted as the aircraft of Ernst Udet, who fancied a girl named Eleanor 'Lo' Zink.

The Swiss Fokker D-VII were registered 625 to 639. The fuselage and engine of this D.VII are original. The fuselage is from an unbuilt license D-VII by firm Alfred Comte, Oberrieden (CH)

This D.VII was built by the Albatros works. Quality control was not Fokker's forte and pilots preferred Albatros-built aircraft.
