Operated by GAEL. Taken from my garden departing from runway 07. In those days there were a lot more foreign military movements at Northolt. Delivered to the French Air Force on 10 Feb 1972. Stored at Chateaudun and noted in May 2003 and Apr 2005.

OY-STM was delivered new to Sterling on 16 Jun 1970. To Air Toulouse as F-GHKP on 24 Apr 1992. Returned to Sterling in Aug 1992 and WFU and stored at CPH. To Transapel Colombia as HK-3857X on 23 Aug 1993. To Aerogolfo Colombia in Feb 1994. Merged into Global Colombia in Feb 1995. Last listed in JP98. No later sightings, presumed scrapped.

Most Scandinavian airlines used Stansted at the weekends for charters but Sterling used Luton with several flights on a Saturday. Also in shot is Caravelle 12 OY-STM and B727-2J4 OY-SAT plus a Britannia B737-200. OY-SAA was delivered new to Sterling on 12 Mar 1971. To Air Inter as F-GCVM in Apr 1983. To Air Provence on 28 Feb 1991. WFU and placed on display at Paris Orly in Aug 1996.

Seen here 4 months after she came onto the UK civil register as G-BFKK. Still carrying RAF markings with the 60 Sqn badge on the tail. An aircraft my late father used to fly when he was based at Wildenrath. Delivered to the RAF as XF796 in June 1956. To Aldergrove for ground instruction as 8461M on 24 Nov 1975. She entered the UK civil register as G-BFKK on 27 Jan 1978 but continued to carry her RAF Markings. Exported to the USA as N2692U in June 1981. Still current in 2023.

Taken from my garden over looking the landing lights for runway 25. Operated by HQ USAREUR. Delivered to the US Army in 1977. Later converted to a C-12C. To the US civil register as N7067B on 16 Feb 1989. Reregistered to N283B in Apr 1992. Registration cancelled 01 May 2013 as WFU. Location and status unknown in 2023.

Operated by 207 Squadron. One of two communications squadrons based at Northolt. My Dad was one of the pilots on this squadron. Delivered to the RAF in 1954. To the UK civil register as G-DHDV on 26Oct98. And still current in 2023. 207 Squadron disbanded in June 1984 with the retirement of the Devon's. It reformed on Tucano's as part of 1 FTS between 2002 and 2012 and again in 2019 at RAF Marham as the F-35B OCU.

Operated by 207 Squadron. One of two communications squadrons based at RAF Northolt. Delivered to the RAF on 24 Aug 1948. Last flight 04 Jul 1984 to Aldergrove fire dump as 8822M. Later preserved with 817 ATC Sqn Lisburn. My Dad was one of the pilots on this squadron at the time. Also in the picture is VP981 c/n 04205.

Operated by 32 Squadron. One of two communications squadrons based at Northolt. The Whirlwind was a license built development of the Sikorsky S-55 / H-19. Delivered to the RAF as XP328 on 07 Nov 1961. Transferred to the UK civil register as G-BKHC on 25 Aug 1982. W/O on 22 Aug 1988 when it crashed on landing at Whatfield. Remains to North Somercotes, Lincs @2020.

Delivered to the RAF on 03 Feb 1952. SOC on 21 Aug 1975 and retired to the fire section at RAF Northolt. Completely burnt out by Oct 1978 and the remains scrapped.

Built in Romania and registered G-BDHS on 10 Dec 1975. Delivered to the Mauritanian Air Force as 5T-MAT on 14 May 1976. This aircraft was written off in Mauritania not long after this shot was taken on 21 Jul 1978.

One of just 2 DC-10's in service with BCAL at this time. They were still mainly Boeing 707 equipped for long haul services. There is an IAS DC-8F is in the back ground. Delivered new to BCAL as G-BEBL on 31 Mar 1977. Merged into British Airways on 14 Apr 1988. To the USA on 15 Feb 2000 as N16949 for conversion to a freighter. To Varig Log as PP-VQY on 29 Apr 2001. To Kelowna Flightcraft as C-GKFB on 10 Sep 2008. Registration cancelled 07 Apr 2015. Seen at Hamilton 29 Nov 2015 engineless. Noted being broken up 18 Mar 2016.

A busy 1978 scene at Gatwick. BCAL 111 G-AYOP has just pushed back with a company 111 and G-AXYD from Dan Air in the back ground. A British Airtours 707-436 G-APFJ is just about to roll with another G-APFG on stand. Completing the scene is a HS125 parked at the hangars. Delivered new to Court Line as G-AYOP on 31 Mar 1971. Returned to BAC 08 Dec 1972. To BCAL 16 Apr 1973. Merged into British Airways 14 Apr 1988. To European Aviation in Dec 1992. To Savannah Airlines of Nigeria as 5N-BDV on 21 Nov 2001. Noted at Bournemouth Jul 1985 with West Coast Airlines titles. To Air Crew leasing as N245AC in Jun 1986, to Tucson and broken up in 1991 in support of the KC-135 reengining project.

Delivered new to Austrian Airlines as OE-LCE on 01 Jun 1963. To Luxair as LX-LGG on 05 May 1972. To SAN Ecuador on 16 Jun 1978 and used for spares recovery at Quito. Since scrapped. In the background is an Iberia Boeing 727-256 EC-CIE. Beyond is the Hunting hangar which housed executive jets. Now the site of Terminal 4.

Delivered new to Tarom as YR-TPG on 01 Apr 1978. My photo date of 15 Apr 1978 was the first sighting of this aircraft in the West. To Yuzhnaya as UN-85777 by 28 Jun 1999. To Air Scorpio by Oct 1999. Noted at DME on 01 Jun 2001 owned by East Line but without titles. On lease to 20 Oct 2001. No more sightings. Presumed broken up.

Bought by Guinness Peat Aviation on 01Apr78 and leased to Aer Lingus, this aircraft still carries the cheat line of former operated Eastern Provincial Airways of Canada. New to Eastern Provincial as C-GEPB on 10 Oct 1975. Later to N4039W, C-GEPB, N70720, EI-BDY, C-GNDD, EI-BDY, G-BNYT, EI-BDY, CC-CYT and LV-ZZC. Preserved at Oncativo, Córdoba Province, Argentina in Aug 2022, as the '1880', which is a hireable venue at the 'Nono Luigi' Hotel.
