A single Nieuport IV-G was purchased for the Swedish Army Aviation and became its first aircraft in 1912. It flew primarily as a training aircraft but some early attempts at aerial reconnaissance were also made. Unfortunately, the M 1 had many technical faults and spent a lot of time under repair. After seven years they had had enough and the plane was donated to the Technical Museum in Stockholm. It was later transferred to Malmen and renovated in connection with the fiftieth anniversary of military aviation in 1962, probably flying for the last time. It is now part of this super museum.

The very first aircraft for the Swedish air force was this Nieuport IV. It was bought in 1912. At first it was serialed M1 with just a Swedish flag on the fin. Later it became just '1' and presumably received the three crowns markings.
