Ex RAF XR497 and designated simply as HCMK2 with the Uruguayan air force, which was one of the last users of the Westland Wessex in the world. This example was found on outside display with the Museo Aeronautico.

Operated by the Netherlands Navy in September 1953 as 8-2. Became 076 in August 1959. Put in storage at Valkenburg bbbetween December 1961 and November 1964. then to the technical school the Navy until 1973. Transport to Schiphol by ship in March 1974. To the Aviodrome in 1975.

This pic was included in the estate of the late Peter Baeten. I doubt if many of the ca. 100 pics were Peter's own work. Only two slide mounts carried the names of the maker. If you are the maker of this pic, please contact the uploader.

An old favourite of mine in the Aviodome / Aviodrome, at last positioned for a decent photo. The Netherlands navy received three HO4S-3 helicopters on 9 September 1953. Cleopatra and Delilah crashed but Salomé survived to be retired in 1963.
