In October 2005, Sky FlightCare flew this MD902 on air ambulance missions from the Coatesville-Brandywine Hospital Heliport (2PS6), PA. It was photographed at the American Helicopter Museum's Rotorfest 2005 fly-in at West Chester - Brandywine Airport. Sky FlightCare closed in September, 2013. This MD900 was built in 1998 as N9229Q and first flown by the US Coast Guard HITRON program as 9054 in 1999-2000. With Doctor Heli as JA01DH in 2001-2004. With Sky FlightCare as N222YN 2004-2006. California Shock Trama Air Rescue 2007-2012 as N222YN & N902YN. First MD900 in New Zealand as ZK-IYN in 2015.

University of Pennsylvania Health System established the PennSTAR air ambulance program in the summer of 1988 to serve patients in Delaware, New Jersey and central Pennsylvania. This 1985 model BK117 was test flown in Germany as D-HBMZ, then shipped to MBB Helicopter Corp at Brandywine Airport, PA and flew as N44932 prior to delivery to aero medical operator CJ Systems as N117CJ for use by the STAT Medevac and PennStar EMS programs. Air Methods bought CJ Systems in October 2007 and retired N117CJ in 2015. Metro Aviation now flies four helicopters for PennStar from three bases.
