One of the RAAF's three bare bases to be activated in time of war. It also supports a US Navy communications station at North West Cape and the oil industry. View is looking south and since the photo the RAAF has built rapid deployment aircraft shelters to the right of the runway. A modern terminal building for airlines is to the left. GA activity is at the nearby Exmouth airport.
