Built in 1953 as CV340 N73138 "Mainliner Boise" for United Airlines, JBQ Aviation's Convair 580 N203RA was wearing Renown Aviation titles when awaiting the scrapman's axe when photographed at Roswell, NM., on 05th October 2000.

This is what can happen if you try to land an Electra with the landing-gear up. When, on 1 March 1999, N285F touched down at Shannon with gear up, went around with difficulty and made it back to the airport for a landing on its undercarriage, the No. 3 prop and parts of the No. 3 engine detached from the aircraft, some parts passing through the fuselage on the way. On landing, only the No. 1 engine was still producing full power. Note the damaged No. 2 and No. 4 prop also.

VH-RMA Ansett ANA of origin. To N356Q with TPI International. Also leased by Air Bridge Carriers (UK) both as N356Q and N355WS. Then to JBQ Aviation. After its time with Renown Aviation it went to Amerer Air (Austria) as OE-ILB and Buffalo Airways as C-FBAQ. It was damaged 5 Mar 2012 at Yellowknife NWT when it had to land without the main starboard gear. It was repaired and converted to a fire fighting role. Still active as of Apr 2019.

On 1 March 1999 the crew of this aircraft had a lucky escape after they momentarily touched down at Shannon with landing-gear still retracted. While the machine was climbing away for a circuit to land, the propeller assembly and part of No. 3 engine fell to the ground. Electrical power was lost and the only serviceable flight instruments available were the standby artificial horizon and wet compass. So as to maintain control, No. 4 engine had to be feathered and a successful landing was made with only No. 1 engine fully operative and No. 2 producing partial power. N285F was later broken up.
