Built in 2024 and delivered new to Air Zermatt in March of 2024, this H125 is the 2nd "HB-XCL" operated by the swiss helicopter pioneer. The registration was chosen with a historic reason, as "HB-XCL" has previously been assigned to Air Zermatt's very 1st helicopter, an AB206A Jet Ranger with c/n 8028. First operated by Heliswiss and then by Air Zermatt as from 19 December 1968, the underpowered Jet Ranger on March 12, 1969 suffered a landing accident on the Theodul Glacier in adverse weather condition, and has consequently been written off.

This 2015 built EC130 was the first of the more powerful version T2 on the swiss register, and also the first and so far sole EC130 operated by Air Zermatt. Based at Zermatt heliport at 1600m/AMSL, HB-ZAZ was mainly used for scenic and taxi flights. The EC130 is not very popular in Switzerland - certainly not for aerial work - and it seems that Air Zermatt was not too happy with it either. Otherwise, it would not have been sold to Romania as YR-FRA in October 2023, after only being with Air Zermatt for eight years, and without being replaced.

On July 4, 2023, this airframe was destroyed during a landing accident in the Monte Rosa mountain massif at an altitude of approx 4'500 meters / 14'700 ft above sea level. Luckily, the pilot, the load master and three passengers escaped the accident unharmed.

The red and white stars symbolize the flag of the canton of Valais. Originally of the version T2, it was modified to T3 standard in November 2015 and at the same time received a slightly different livery, see also picture ID 303717. With the delivery of Air Zermatt's 2nd Bell 429 HB-ZOZ in May of 2018, HB-ZEF was sold to Air Glaciers in early July of 2018 and based in Sion, from where it still operates at the time of upload.
