B-853 was owned by Air Asia and operated by Air America on behalf of the CIA in South-East Asia. In 1968 it passed to the USAF as 61-2388. From 1973 to 1979 it was used to supply Ibex (CIA) surveillance stations in Iran. After the Iranian revolution, c/n 52 became an exhibit at the Tehran Aerospace Museum.
