Erected today on a roundabout at the site of the former RAF Thornaby. The markings on the port side commemorate 401 Sqn, RCAF. Those on the starboard side, PK651, code RAO-B, commemorate 608 Sqn, RAuxAF. The Thornaby Spitfire is erected in recognition of Thornaby's aviation heritage and will be dedicated on April 1st.
