Built in 1942 in the UK, this aircraft was delivered to Australia in 1943. As part of RAAF 79 Squadron, it saw service in Papua New Guinea. On the 29th August 1943 it crashed on Kiriwina Island and was transported to Goodenough Island to be repaired. It was found there in 1971 by Landgon Badger, and in 1973 it was shipped to Adelaide for four-year-long restoration at Parafield Airport. The aircraft became part of the South Australian Aviation museum exposition in 2001 This photo is copyright © Andrei Bezmylov, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
