1987 marked the final year of Skyhawks within Marine Attack Squadron (VMA) 311 Tomcats. The squadron started to operated the Skyhawk in 1958 (A4D-2, later designated A-4B) and flew subsequently A-4E's and the final Skyhawk variant, the A-4M. This A-4M was pictured at homebase MCAS El Toro (CA). The squadron transitioned to AV-8B Harrier II in 1988 and in the near future it will swap to F-35B Lightning II.
