First flown in 1940, the Levante was a Hungarian trainer, used as a liaison aircraft on the Eastern Front. This one, Hungarian serial believed to be I.570, was flown from Linz to Dübendorf in Switzerland on 12 April 1945 by its deserting Hungarian crew. It was given back to Hungary in 1947, but sold in Switzerland. After a mishap in July 1949 the 105-hp Hirth engine, seen here, was replaced by a Siemens radial. Used by the Lucerne aero club the Levante crashed during aerobatic training on 10 August 1952.
