A68-198 was a photo reconnaissance version of the Australian built North American Mustang. It was sold as surplus in 1958 and acquired by Fawcett Aviation at Bankstown in 1962. Fawcett operated two Mustangs as target tugs but it was planned A68-198 would be used for aerial photography to take advantage of its camera ports. The work was never done and it was sold in 1966 to an Australian pilot who planned to fly it as a warbird. Defeated by bureaucratic opposition to warbirds, A68-198 was sold in the US. It was restored as N65198. This photo is copyright © David Carter, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
