Hercules of the current 96 Airlift Squadron with a fitting war time code 6Z of 96 Troop Carrier Squadron. This unit was based at RAF Exeter when flying into Carentan in Normandy in the night of the 6th of June 1944. On the 7th of June the 96 TCS was heavily involved in resupply drops.
