My very first encounter with an operational MiG! This was at a time when East Germany was still staunchly pro-Soviet, although the first cracks had started to appear. This resulted in my invitation to a very low-key open day at Peenemunde where Jagdgeschwader 9 was based at the former Nazi rocket testing ground where the V1 and V2 were developed.
