Seen in the compound of the Detroit Institute of Aeronautics together with OV-10 N718NA, Bell 47G 0-13958, a Beech C-45 and a Cessna 337. The C-124 was officially registered to the Detroit Institute of Aeronautics as N86599 on 6 June 1973, but the registration was not applied. It flew again in 1986 and was the last of the type to fly.
