The Nationale Volksarmee (NVA) was the armed forces of East Germany up to 1990. This MiG-29UB was assigned to Jagdfliegergeschwader 3 (JG-3) "Wladimir Komarow" at Preschen air base. The 181 made its first flight on 21 March 1988, and was delivered to the NVA in April 1988, and according to NVA data the aircraft only flew some 311 flight hours before it was delivered to the Luftwaffe on 3 October 1990 as 29+24. So... this picture was just on time to immortalize it in NVA colors. This photo is copyright © Stephan de Bruijn, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
