This MiG-21 was delivered to the National Volks Armee in May 1975, it served Jagdgeschwader Neun but was then transferred to JG3 at Preschen. On 3 October 1990 the Fishbed went to the Luftwaffe as 23+48. The Luftwaffe retired the aircaft at Rothenburg in July 1991.
