With the 496th FIS at Hahn AB, West Germany, in 1960 and then returned to the US in 1964 being assigned to the Idaho ANG 190th FIS, based at Gowan Field. To AMARC 9.71 and later airlifted by CH-54 Skycrane to Sioux Falls, SD. The trip took six weeks as the helicopter could only fly in short hops.
