Perhaps a type that younger viewers won't readily recognise, the Argus was a piston-engined Britannia derivation which bridged the maritime patrol gap between Lancasters/Neptunes and the CP-140 Aurora (Orion). First flown in 1957, 33 were built and the last was retired in 1982. Six airframes survive, but not this one This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
