The 45th Tactical Fighter Squadron "Hoosier Hogs" swapped from A-37 to A-10 in 1981 at Grissom AFB (IN). The squadron was inactivated on 1 October 1994, but reactivated on 1 November 2009 as an Air Force Reserve Command unit at Davis-Monthan AFB (AZ). as part of the 355th Fighter Wing. The 45th Fighter Squadron now trains A-10 pilots. This 535 was retired in in June 1993 when it started a life as an instructional airframe at Grissom, It was eventually transferred to the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City (NY) for preservation where it was first noted in late 1993.
