The 136th Fighter Interceptor Squadron of the New York Air National Guard operated from 1951-1958 and from 1971-1992. It operated the North American F-51 Mustang, (1951-1954) the Lockheed F-94 Starfire (1954-1958) and the McDonnell F-101 Voodoo (1971-1982), the McDonnell Douglas F-4C Phantom II (1982-1986), F-4D Phantom II (1986-1990) and the General Dynamics F-16A/B Fighting Falcon (1990-1992) before it was disestablished as a fighter squadron. In 1994 the 136st was reestablished with KC-135R (1994-2008), C-130H (2008-2015) and since 2015 it flies MQ-9 Reapers.
