The grand building in the background is Cootamundra West railway station which closed in 1983. Cootamundra had two busy stations and was a major rail junction at the height of the railways. It also was for a while the air terminus for planes from the UK, mail and passengers completing the journey to Melbourne and Sydney by train. The switch to flying boats moved the air terminus to Sydney. This photo was added on 10 January 2020, and has since been viewed 270 times. |
