This C-47 was built in the USA as 43-49728 and delivered to the RAF (as a Dakota IV) in 1943 as KK209. After WWII it was used as a transport for high-ranking military personnel until 1957 when it joined the GAF and the newly formed Lufttransportgeschwader 61. From 1967 until decomissioning in1976 it was used for testing military air traffic control systems and radio navigation equipment, hence the high-vis markings. The plane is now on display at the Deutsches Museum - Flugwerft Schleissheim This photo is copyright © Alastair T. Gardiner, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
