This first prototype DA 1 (Development Aircraft 1) made its maiden flight from Manching in 1994. The final assembly plant for the German Typhoons is locatd in Manching as well as the flight test center of Airbus Defence & Space. During its 12 years in service, the prototype performed 578 flights totaling about 500 flight hours. The last flight took place on 21 December 2005 and the frame is now on display at Deutsches Museum - Flugwerft Schleissheim. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
