The Fw 44 Stieglitz (Goldfinch) was one of the best-known training and aerobatic planes of the 1940s and served until the end of WWII as the standard training plane of the Luftwaffe. This example on display at the Deutsches Museum - Flugwerft Schleissheim was built under licence in Sweden by ASJA/Saab and used by the Swedish AF for flight training until 1955. It was then sold to and flown by various private individuals and flying clubs until the 1980s until donated to the museum. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
