Back in the days when the USN was synonymous with colour. This VA-86 A-7C was later converted to a TA-7C two-seater and entered AMARC in 1992. It now serves the Greek AF. Following NATO exercise "Northern Merger", in which USS America joined with HMS Ark Royal to provide air support for a NATO task force amphibious landing, she visited Portsmouth for five days from 29.9.74. Decommissioned in 1996, she was used for attack testing with live weapons and was controversially scuttled off NC in 2005 This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
