For a few years in the late 2010s, the daily British Airways flight from London Heathrow to San Diego was operated by a 747-400 in the winter season and a 777-300/ER in the summer season. The COVID-19 global health crisis of the early 2020s would lead to the early retirement of BA's 747s, and the subsequent introduction of 787s and A350s on the San Diego route, now being flown twice daily in the summer season.
