The MBB-SIAT 223 Flamingo is a three-seater training and sport plane with aerobatic capabilities. Only a small number of the total of 97 Flamingos produced were built in West Germany. In the early 1970s, manufacturing was moved to the CASA plant where 50 were built and another 17 planes were produced under licence by Farner in Switzerland. This is the only exxample produced of the final version, built in 1986, and is now on display at the Deutsches Museum - Flugwerft Schleissheim. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
