The UN used three Russian helicopters at Goma in January 2007. This 25828 is a former Russian Air Force Mi-8T built in 1983. Modified to Mi-8MTV-1, the helicopter was transferred to UTair late 2005 and subsequently moved to the United Nations from 2007. Since that time the helicopter never (besides a large maintenance works in 2015) went back to Russia and is operating as Russian governmental support to United Nations over Africa. It was seen in DRC, Sudan and Uganda. This photo is copyright © Stephan de Bruijn, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
