Ordered by the USAAF as C-47A 42-24230 c/n 10092. Delivered to the US Navy as R4D-5 Bu39072 in 1943. Converted to R4D-8 c/n 43382 in 1953. Redesignated as a C-117D in 1962. To N5597V in 1980 then impounded in Colombia and stored at Madrid AB in the mid 1980s. Transferred to the Colombian Air Force as FAC1685, but unused. Still in its ex-US Navy colours.
