Designed and built by the Farman brothers from 1909 onwards. In 1913, aircraft factories were visited, in search for material for the new to form aviation department (Air Force). After evaluating aircraft from Bleriot, Caudron and Farman, the latter was chosen (the Farman HF-20). In 1914, an order for 6 bigger and improved HF-22's was placed, but due to the war, only 4 were delivered. Late 1918, all remaining Farmans were decommissioned and sold.
