The US Navy bought two Blackburn Swift F torpedo bombers. A6056 and A6057 were tested at NAS Anacostia in late 1922 but the Douglas DT was selected. The two Swifts were sent over to San Diego in January 1924. Here we presumably see the aftermath of a mishap on 23 October 1924. A6056 was affected by salt water and struck off charge. The rear fuselage reads 'Blackburn Aircraft, Leeds, England'. Photo by: Joseph Haase / San Diego Air & Space Museum This photo was added on 1 May 2020, and has since been viewed 598 times. |
