This veteran airplane was originally delivered as C-47B 43-48859 to the USAAF and served with the French and South Vietnamese forces afterwards, as 348859. From 1968 until 1992 she was stored at MASDC. Early in 2000 the Basler turboprop conversion took place under registration N40386, along with outfitting as an airtanker. In 2004, the USAF leased her back and in 2007, C-GEAJ was applied. As such, this die-hard even crashlanded in Antarctica, was repaired, and did several ocean crossings since then. Resting here at current home base Calgary. This photo is copyright © Erik Sleutelberg, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
