The BH-11 prototype first took off on June 17, 1924. The primary customer was the Czechoslovak Air Force, which used the type under the designation B-11, Bš-11 (trainer) and Bk-11 (courier). The BH-11C was the sports version and L-BONK won the air races in the mid-1920s, firstly in Paris and then the Coppa d'Italia, the prestigious race around Rome. It then flew for the Aeroklub Pilsen (as OK-IZZ?) and was stored in the repository of the Museum of West Bohemia, where its condition slowly deteriorated over time. A restoration was completed in 1968 and the plane is now (almost) on display. This photo is copyright © Alastair T. Gardiner, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
