Malpensa airport was developed from the Caproni factory airfield, dating back to 1910, and the Volandia museum is housed in the historic factory buildings. No less than three examples of the marginallly succesful S.211 jet trainer are preserved here and the first prototype, I-SITF, now sits in this spot, replacing I-SMTE.
