The Thomas Morse Scout became the standard single-seat fighter trainer used by the U.S. Air Service during World War I. This example was built with the 100 hp Gnome rotary engine and was acquired in 1997 from the Crawford Museum in Cleveland, Ohio. At some point the wings were rebuilt for display only and as the intention is to return it to airworthy condition they will have to be rebuilt. Less than 500 were built and very few still exist This photo is copyright © Mick Bajcar, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
