There was a graveyard of wrecks next to the Hawker de Havilland factory throughout the 1960s. In mid 1969 there was a motley collection of navy aircraft (Firefly, Gannets, Sea Venom and Sea Vampire) plus a couple partially scrapped RAAF Neptunes. Several aircraft went to museums but WZ946 was purchased by Chieftain Aviation at Bankstown and mounted on a pole. It came down in 1993 and at least part of the airframe was later shipped to the US.
