Although Brooks Fuel had been shut down for a number of years, its compound looked pretty much the same in May 2019 with former NASA DC-4 N438NA in the background. The State finally took over the facility in early 2020 and auctioned off some of the stored aircraft and all of the equipment in preparation for a planned environmental cleanup. DC-4s N438NA and N51802 along with DC-7C N90251 were spared scrapping, at least for the time being.
