This old F-4D shows a red kill-mark on its splitter plate. The Phantom was credited for a MiG-21 kill with an AIM-7E Sidewinder over North Vietnam on 16 April 1972. The aircraft was then assigned to the 523rd TPS with tailcode "PN". The 111st Fighter Interceptor Squadron operated this F-4D from home base Ellington ANGB (TX) and deployed it to Tyndall AFB (FL) for a small scale exercise.
