In 1986 this F-111A was active in the NASA AFTI program (Advanced Fighter Technology Integration). Seen here in the main hangar at the 1986 Edwards Open House. On the fin it carries the USAF unit abbreviations AFWAL (Air Force Wright Aeronautical Laboratories) and AFFTC (Air Force Flight Test Center) and the NASA unit abbreviations DFRF (Dryden Flight Research Facility) and LaRC (Langley Research Center).
