This former US Marine Corps F-4N was stored at AMARC with inventory code 8F120 from September 1983 to March 1993. The Phantom was made airworthy again at Davis Monthan and was flown to Naval Air Depot Cherry Point (NC) in April 1993. Here is was converted to QF-4N 'EW platform'. The aircraft was modified with Electronic Warfare systems (this can be recognized by the vertical stabilo modifications), so it was able to fully evaluate fighters and weapons flown and fired against it. It was, most probably, shot down over the Pacific Missile Test Range by July 2004. This photo is copyright © Stephan de Bruijn, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
