September 8, 2014 marked the end of an era when fighter operations ceased at RAF Leuchars after a period of some 64 years when 1 Squadron relocated to Lossiemouth. Often hailed as the RAF's "premier" air defence base, it is fitting that the RAF's premier squadron is the last fighter unit to leave.
