In total, 36 MiG-23MF (and 6 MiG-23UB twin-seat training variant) aircraft were delivered to Poland, going on to serve with the 28th Fighter Aviation Regiment in Słupsk. However, the introduction of the superb MiG-21bis halted further purchases of the MiG-23 aircraft, thus saving on the higher financial outlay in both purchase and operation. The last flight of the MiG-23 in Poland took place in November, 1999 and this example is on display at the Muzeum Sil Powietrznych.
