Was with NAF Mildenhall from 1973 to 1981 when she moved to NAS Guantanamo Bay. In 1986 she was retired at Davis Monthan AFB. Her sister, 141010 crashed into the St. Johns river after departure from NAS Jacksonville, Fl, in 1983 after which, ship 140996 was sent to NAS Guantanamo Bay. It is almost certain that the photo was taken at NAS Jacksonville transient line shortly after arrival as there is still 60 weight oil on the engine cowls and gear doors. She always flew with 80 lb bails of rags and was wiped down soon after she arrived anywhere. This photo was added on 11 January 2021, and has since been viewed 512 times. |
