Peter Channon's Comper Swift back at Redhill shortly after having to abandon his attempt to re-create Arthur Butler's 1931 England-Australia 9-day flight in G-ABRE. G-ABTC left Biggin Hill on 28 December 1981 but had to make a forced landing in Jask, Iran in March 1982 due to a faulty distributor rotor arm. Channon was refused permission to proceed to Pakistan and instead flew back to Dubai from where the Swift was air-freighted to Gatwick and then flown the short hop to Redhill. Understood to be under restoration by Peter Channon near Perranporth, Cornwall in 2017. This photo is copyright © Terry Dann, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
